Manhattan Experimental Theater Workshop

a program of the Manhattan Arts Center in Manhattan, Kansas

MXTW 2020 Pre-registration is live now!

We know there is a lot of uncertainty at this time. Here is some information regarding this summer’s workshop in light of the Covid-19 pandemic:

Just like everyone, everywhere, we are waiting to see what happens and have no way to anticipate at this time if the workshop will be able to happen in its traditional format. However, we are still planning and preparing for the workshop in every normal way so that if it is safe to hold in its traditional format we will be ready to do so.

We are also working on an online format for this summer’s workshop, so that if we are not able to meet in person we may hold an online version. While this experience will be different than the standard workshop, we think it will still be very worthwhile and a lot of fun. Experimenting is what we do right? It’s right there in the name! And this will be a grand experiment in creating together, even if we can’t be together physically. Our staff is working hard to figure out how this will work, we do not yet have all the answers, but the online activities will take place over the same weeks as the regular workshop was to be held May 9th – June 13th.

If you would like to participate this summer please Pre-register now! We need to meet a minimum enrollment level to know whether we can feasibly hold the class. In light of this, we have made an Early Commitment Pre-Registration Form. This is so you can tell us you intend to participate, but do not have to pay at this time. If we get enough early commitments to know we can hold the class then we will notify you and you will need to log on to the MAC class registration system to complete your registration and payment at that time.

The fee for the class in either format will be $55. If you need a scholarship please contact director Gwethalyn Williams at gwethalynw@gmail.com or 785-550-1312 (text or call is fine) or contact the MAC staff at 785-537-4420 or marketing@manhattanarts.org so we can give you the correct code to enter when you complete your registration using the MAC online system.

Please note the pre-registration form also gathers information about the technical abilities available to you where you are staying while you will be participating in the workshop. Please answer these questions honestly and don’t worry if you do not have access to everything we ask about. This information will help us accommodate everyone, no matter their technical capabilities.

If you have any trouble using the form or have any other questions please contact Gwethalyn at gwethalynw@gmail.com or Michele at marketing@manhattanarts.org

We are looking forward to this summer’s theatrical experiments whatever from they may end up taking and we hope you will join us!
