Breuer and Stein

I got a crazy good workout these past two days from set building. Monday was 9-4 and Tuesday was 9-2. Everything is built except the short ladders to the ramp between the audience. [I’ll take pictures tomorrow.]

Chad and I met at 1 with Barbara and Mercedes to have Breuer small group meeting. It was so freaking cold upstairs! We had out meeting in the hall where it was a little warmer. We all read B. Beaver Animation as a group (I love reading Breuer outloud), and then talked a bit about what characters in the story of Orpheus would be well suited to a Breuer piece. They decided on Hades. Apparently Hades is malcontented with his older brothers gettin’ more lady action, being mistaken for other people, and incompetent underlings. What’s a Lord of the Underworld to do? They wrote like beasts and we already have good material to type up. Go team Breuer!

I had an hour break in between groups and went to go pick up my Dad’s birthday present and get some Chipotle (Veggie Burrito with Green and Corn Salsa FTW!).

Stein group with Ellen, Hannah, and Emily is also totally awesome. They sound great when they read together. We spent more time reading and discussing than writing (REALLY good discussion on immortality and what life and time mean to immortals, etc.), but they still wrote quite a bit of good material in the hour they had left. I can’t wait to type up everything! Josh had to leave 30 minutes early to hang out with his second group, Open Theater, but thanks to our co-directing method, we were still ultra productive.

I will try my hardest to bring in a map of Hades’ realm and Dante’s Inferno tomorrow for the director’s meeting. So the kids know where they are.
